President’s Message

The countdown has begun. We have a little less than a month to plan for the on site review team from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges or also known as SACS-COC. This is the time to “put our best foot forward.”

[image 1]The countdown has begun! There’s just a little more than two weeks before we hit the fall payment deadline of July 29 at 11:59 p.m.

Complete College America recently released a report titled, “The Four-Year Myth” which addresses the unfortunate reality that most college students will not graduate in the “traditional” four years and/or they incur unnecessary expense due to them taking more college credit hours than were necessary for completing the baccalaureate degree.  

Budgeting can be a hard task to oversee whether it’s for your personal life or managing an organization’s with hundreds of employees and thousands of students.

Part of the charge from our accrediting agency – The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges or SACSCOC – is to develop a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).

Northwest Vista College is in the perfect place and time to seize the opportunity to grow – not just in enrollment, but in partnerships, size and brand awareness. 

Recently Alamo Colleges received the results of the Personnel Assessment of the College Environment or PACE survey – an instrument designed and nationally normed to measure the employee climate by examining satisfaction and productivity as compared to peer-sized community colleges.

One of my goals soon after I came to Northwest Vista College was to lead the college in carefully examining our accomplishments, our aspirations and collaboratively developing a new strategic plan which will provide our guideposts for the next three years.

At the very heart of the community college mission is our commitment to an open-door/open admission policy for all students.

For the last several years, Northwest Vista College has been blessed with strong enrollment counts with many semesters growing by leaps and bounds.
