Caring out Loud for our Students

In every team and department at Northwest Vista College, there are always great stories to tell that show faculty and staff going above and beyond.

While it’s hard to capture every story, we hope to periodically share in this space some of the major accomplishments or projects that are taking place. Members of the executive team will write about important topics that they feel NVC employees should be made aware of.

Let us know about the positive things your area is doing to help students or improve processes by contacting myself or NVC Marketing & Strategic Communications

NVC celebrated the return of our students beginning February 7. The campus was once again energized and buzzing with the excitement of classes. It was reinvigorating to walk throughout campus and talk to students and hear their enthusiasm about returning to campus.

NVC continues to work TOGETHER to CARE OUT LOUD for our students. You can continue to support our students by referring them to the many support services available.

Advocacy Center

We recognize that students struggling economically or with mental health issues may find college overwhelming at times. We know that stress can impact academic performance. Any student experiencing challenges is encouraged to reach out to the NVC Student Advocacy and Resource Center. The Advocacy Center provides emergency student aid, help with essential needs, and individual and group mental health counseling at no cost to students.

Call 210-486-4357 (HELP) to connect 8 am-5  pm Mon-Fri (open until 7 pm on Thursday), and 9 am-1 pm the first Saturday of each month. Stop by Huisache Hall Rm. 101, or contact Advocacy Center staff by email at [email protected].

The process of getting support online starts at https://www.alamo.edu/nvc/experience-nvc/current-students/student-advocacy/home/ – Advocacy Intake Forms.

24-hour emergency help is also available through the National Suicide Prevention Hotline (800-273-8255) or at www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org.
