Betty Cunningham and Sharon Dresser Retire

Betty Cunningham

Elizabeth “Betty” Cunningham, NVC’s senior coordinator and leader of Veterans Affairs is NVC’s first employee and first graduate. She will be retiring from full-time employment on March 31. Betty has led NVC’s veteran’s support services since day one on the job. She made it her responsibility to provide quality care to those serving in the armed forces and their families. Betty’s strong advocating for military families, led to the creation NVC’s Veteran’s Center. She has been NVC’s only Veteran’s Center supervisor and leader and she will be greatly missed.

Though she will be retiring from full-time employment, she will remain with NVC on a part-time basis to help in the Veteran’s Center. Thank you Betty for your wonderful years of full-time service to students and the college and may you celebrate many more years with the college in your new role.

Sharon Dresser

Sharon Dresser, is NVC’s senior coordinator and leader of NVC’s Access Center that provides services to students with disabilities. Sharon began her work at Palo Alto College as an adjunct faculty in 1993. She joined NVC in September 5, 1995 to lead and develop the Access center and she has served as NVC’s one and only leader of the center this entire time. Sharon has been a mentor and guide to many team members through the years and has provided leadership and guidance in the development of numerous programs for students. It is widely known that Sharon is a lover of music and finds ways to weave it into her daily life. Her singing and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Sharon, thank you for your 29 years of service to students and the college and may you enjoy your retirement.

We could not convince Sharon to work for us part-time. However, she is known to love drumming circles and we should not be surprised if in the future we hear the sound of beating drums near the lake when Sharon visits the college and gifts us with her music.
