Crystal Manboard came to NVC as a student and is leaving as a cherished full-time English faculty member. Among her many accolades, Crystal was a NISOD award-winning teacher, a member of the NVC faculty mentoring program, and a fantastic colleague who baked treats for Juniper Hall, brought us together as a community at her annual luncheons in her home, and exemplified the touchstone of Joy!

NVC’s Francisco Saucedo of Student Success recently earned a Masters of Arts – Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, Bicultural Concentration through UTSA.
Certificate in Strategic Branding and PR
Lisa McDaniel
Strategic communications coordinator and speech communications adjunct instructor Lisa McDaniel completed an academic certificate in Strategic Branding and Public Relations from UCLA Extension. The certificate requires completion of 32 units of includes courses in the areas of strategic branding, social media marketing and integrated marketing communications.
Mallory Plummer
Invocation
NVC’s academic support specialist and adjunct faculty member Mallory Plummer gave an invocation at the Alamo Colleges Board of Trustees on Dec. 8, 2020.
Food, Internet, and Shelter
Lisa Black, Debi Gaitan, Ric Baser, and Zach Taylor (Trellis Partner)’s proposal was accepted, and they will be presenting at the upcoming National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Conference in March. Their presentation is, “Food, Internet, and Shelter: How Did Community College Students Prioritize Their Emergency Needs During COVID-19?”

Lisa Black and Zach Taylor will be presenting at the upcoming AERA (American Educational Research Association) conference in April. Their presentation is, “Higher Education Case Management Amid COVID: Toward Holistic Student Self-Assessment to Allocate Emergency Resources on Campus”.

Dr. Russ Frohardt was recently published in an edited edition of an ebook: “Sexual Behavior as A Model for the Study of Motivational Drive And Related Behaviors.” He was also published in “Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience” with an article, titled “What a Girl Wants”: What Can We Learn From Animal Models of Female Sexual Motivation?”
