Welcome Back: New Director of College Grants Development

Judy Camargo is Northwest Vista College’s new director of College Grants Development.

She worked in the same capacity for NVC from 2005 until 2010, when she developed and wrote grant proposals, collaborated with NVC faculty and staff in the grant planning process and ensured that grant projects aligned with NVC’s institutional strategic plan. After leaving NVC, Judy stayed connected to the college by serving on NVC’s Advisory Boards for the Gender Equity in Math and Science Project, as well as the Math Intensive Majors Project to increase the number of academically prepared underserved and/or financially disadvantaged student graduates at NVC.

Throughout her 22-year career in grant writing, management, monitoring, compliance and evaluation, Judy has successfully secured over $30 million dollars in competitive grant funds from private foundations, corporations and federal and state funding agencies.

Prior to rejoining NVC, Judy was the director of Federal and State Programs for South San Antonio Independent School District. She also served as the Grants & Programs Evaluation coordinator for Harlandale Independent School District. Before that, Judy worked for the University Health System as the Manager of Grants & Operations.

Judy’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Public Administration from St. Mary’s University.
