Thanks to the Northwest Vista College President’s Office Business Council, 28 Northwest Vista College students will get their final balance paid off. These students earned their degrees this semester.
This means that the businesses and representatives that have form the POBC are paying a whopping $14,255 to help get students to the next level. If a student doesn’t pay off their balance, they are not able to get their transcript which is important if they want to transfer to a four-year university.
Members of POBC help mentor students, connect them with internships and provide job shadowing. Last year, the group did something similar but were only able to help nine students.
Dr. Lisa McGoldrick, NVC director of Community Collaborations and a board liaison for POBC, said during the pandemic of fall 2021, they only had about 20 active members. This semester in 2022, the group consisted of only 10 active members. She said they are working on growing partnerships this summer and next fall.
