NASA Engineer Credits Hector Trevino to Helping him Embrace Math

Congrats to NVC math faculty Hector Trevino!

Recently, a former student Alex Zamora credited Hector in a YouTube video for putting him on a path to making math easy for him which led him to become a NASA engineer.

When Hector is not busy teaching, he’s also athletically talented outside the classroom. He has won the NVC Annual Golf Tournament Championship three times in a row in the past three years. Hector and a few other faculty have been holding the “tournament” for the last six years. They keep changing the name of the tournament and actually have an old beat up trophy that they pass around depending on who wins. That winner keeps it in his office for the year.

Most importantly, he applies his top-notch golf skills in his teaching to explain calculus-sequenced math topics behind each swing ranging from trigonometry, integration, to transcendental functions.
