March 27, 2020 | NVC PR | Leave a comment In every team and department at Northwest Vista College, there are always great stories to tell that show faculty and staff going above and beyond. While it’s hard to capture every story, we hope to periodically share in this space some of the major accomplishments or projects that are taking place. Members of the executive team will write about important topics that they feel NVC employees should be made aware of. Let us know about the positive things your area is doing to help students or improve processes by contacting myself or NVC Marketing & Strategic Communications. – Dr. Ric Baser, NVC President ____________________________________________________________ By Deans Jennifer Comedy-Holmes and Robin Lund As we entered a time of serving our NVC students remotely, the Student Success team has used the NVC Touchstones of creativity, innovation, synergy, and joy to continue to offer support services to students. It has truly been inspirational to see the “Can-Do” spirit shine as we transition into a whole new way of service. A week ago, “Zooming” would have been more commonly thought of as an adjective to describe cars on a racetrack … now it has become part of our culture to describe a meeting we are attending. From one-to-one Zoom sessions to groups as large as 100, it has been one of our joys discovered along our journey and has become the source of Brady Bunch memes and fun new Bingo cards. Student Success team members not only have adapted to a new way to serve students, some of our team members have also adapted to new roles in our remote world. While the team continues to offer core services, such as advising and admission support, at a distance, others have transitioned to serve our students remotely through initiatives such as the Remote Ready Boot Camp (RRBC). The RRBC is a Canvas course, in which all of our students are registered, that gives them resources to be successful online and interaction with a staff member to answer any questions they may have.
