Northwest Vista College representatives were in attendance at this year’s NEF (Northside Education Foundation) Pillar Recognition and Banquet, presented by Raba Kistner on Sept. 21, at Valero Energy Corp. The event was hosted by the Northside Independent School District.
NISD said on its website that “NEF is celebrating the real-life heroes who support the district with or without a cape or mask. Attendees will hear our Pillars’ amazing stories over dinner … . Each year, the Pillars are selected from the nearly 100,000 Northside ISD alumni who have graduated from NISD high schools since 1951.”
NISD teaches The Pillars of Character in its schools, which are: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.
Julie Boerm, NVC’s dual credit coordinator of High School Programs, said NVC attends every year because of the partnership the college has with NISD.
She added, “We support NISD in many ways in order to serve our students and create opportunities for them.”
