[image 1]As part of the commitment by NVC to encourage students to register to vote for the presidential election, Mayor Julian Castro held a forum on the Pre-K 4 SA initiative on Oct. 31.
More than 200 students and employees attended the event at the Palmetto theater with many expressing appreciation for the opportunity to learn more about this initiative.
Instructors invited government, sociology and humanities classes to attend. Students engaged in a dialogue with the mayor asking many insightful questions about the proposal. The mayors’ team commented to NVC on the exceptional quality of the student questions and knowledge of the topic.
[image 2]The mayor’s visit was a part of Alamo Colleges’ accountability to its students to encourage voters to be informed about issues and vote. NVC has also held several voter registration drives and registered over 700 voters.
