Congratulations to Katchie Cartwright who was recently elected treasurer of the International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ).
She is the first woman in that post. Katchie, NVC associate professor of Music, oversees the Alamo Jazz Allstars Mentorship program, which sends one stand-out Alamo Colleges student to the annual meeting of IASJ.
Katchie also appeared with other members of the IASJ at the end of a one-hour documentary titled “Education Through Jazz: Individuality and Collaboration,” by Israeli filmmaker Leon Segal. The documentary is about the IASJ mission and its founder Dave Liebman.
