Employees Win Prizes in NVC Cares. . . I Care Campaign Drawing

staffcouncil-aug-2016_4At the September NVC Bragging Breakfast, 14 employees won gift baskets, gift cards from restaurants, NVC sweatshirts and even purple NVC lawn chairs.

The gifts included in the drawing were contributed by Red Robin, Follett and the NVC Bookstore, Broadway Bank, Chipotle, The Egg and I, Frost Bank, Los Barrios and Viola’s Ventanas, Santikos Entertainment, Mary Kay Consultant Janie Lopez and the NVC Public Relations Department.

Winning employees were Cynthia Jacox, Mary Zocchi, Jennifer Fox, Kelli Bradshaw, Michael Ward, Paul Martinez, Corporal Robert Sanchez, Diana Garcia, Virginia Leggett, Debi Gaitan, Amanda Gorrell, Christina Brown, Amparo Garcia and Amy Burton.

NVC employees have contributed more than $28,000 thus far to the campaign. At this point, NVC participation has reached 17 percent and this year’s participation goal is 40 percent.

“Every donation large or small counts. Please consider a gift or pledge to the campaign – you can support your favorite scholarship or program, give to a United Way agency or contribute to an arts and cultural organization through theFund,” says Lynne T. Dean, director of NVC Institutional Advancement.

staffcouncil-aug-2016_1Brian Henriksen, a 2013 graduate of NVC, shared his thoughts on the impact of scholarships by email.

“As a non-traditional student, military veteran and single father of two, the scholarships I received significantly alleviated some of my financial burden so that I could focus on my studies.”

Brian received his bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University last spring and is currently in the U.S. Army Reserves. He also works at University Hospital as a critical care tech in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and is studying to take the new MCAT.
