Convocations Aug. 18 and Aug. 24

This year the Northwest Vista College faculty convocation is on Saturday, Aug. 18; and the NVC all-college convocation is on Friday, Aug. 24. Here’s a rundown of what to expect:

Faculty Convocation

The Fall 2018 Convocation will include the Faculty Development Conference and Expo again this year. Last year’s conference and expo were a great addition to the program with many vendors and over 25 employee session presentations.

This year’s theme is “Shaping Pathways to Success at NVC: Enhancing the Student Experience through Partnerships and Innovative Practices in the Digital Age.”

The conference provides an opportunity for faculty and staff to showcase ongoing projects, share experiences, ideas, and best practices covering a variety of relevant topics within four different session topic tracks.

  • 7:30 am to 8:45 am – Coffee and light breakfast in the Palmetto lobby
  • 8 a.m. – New Faculty Orientation in the Palmetto theater
  • 9 a.m. – Opening session
  • 10 am to 11:50 a.m. – Concurrent sessions and expo in Live Oak Hall
  • 12 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. – Working lunch with departments
  • 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Department and discipline meetings
  • 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Faculty social and student art exhibit in Palmetto lobby

All-College Convocation

After the faculty convocation, both faculty and staff are welcomed to attend the 2018 NVC All-College Convocation on Friday, Aug. 24 from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in Palmetto.

Show your NVC pride by wearing your Care Achievement Distinction (Strategic Plan) convocation t-shirt, so employees can start understanding and working on NVC’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan.

Topics this year include the State of the College, the new Strategic Plan, Institutes, and the What I Need(W.I.N.) Advocacy Resource Center.

Pick up a passport and attend three sessions to receive frisbee golf discs, first aid kits, totes, and tumblers! Also, if participants attend all three sessions, NVC President Dr. Baser is giving away two Google Home Minis.

  • 7:30 – 8:15 a.m. –  Breakfast in Palmetto foyer
  • 8:30 a.m. – Welcoming remarks in Palmetto Auditorium from Dr. Baser
  • 8:35 am – State of the College/Announcements/Awards
  • 9:55 a.m. – Transition to breakout sessions
