Art with a Twist!

Instead of having a predictable outing with friends, come to Northwest Vista College on Friday, March 3 to spin glowing clay on a potter’s wheel in the dark.

The NVC Art department will host its “Cosmic Art Night” on Friday  March 3 in the Ceramics and Painting studios at the Palmetto Performing Arts Center from 7-9 pm.

Fine Art Department faculty and staff will mix UV light reactive pigments into clay, fibers, and ink, and install black lights throughout the studios. The NVC community is invited to enjoy the opportunity to try their hand at throwing a vessel on the potter’s wheel, or creating a sculpture using glowing, luminescent materials in colors of yellow, pink, green, and blue.

Our last Cosmic Art Night attracted over 100 people this past November and the potter’s wheels were never left empty. In addition to luminescent clay, guests can bring clothing or paper to create silk screen prints with UV reactive inks!

This event is open to all students, faculty, staff and the San Antonio community. All ages welcome!
