Almost 12,000 Cast Votes at NVC

vote480From Oct. 24 through Nov. 4, a total of 11,841 voters participated in Early Voting at Northwest Vista College. The polling place was located in the Boardwalk and throughout the 12 days of voting, many voters faced waiting in line for 60, 90 and even 120 minutes.

Special thanks goes to Migdalia Garcia who served as the facilitator for the voting at NVC. In addition to working with the election officials, she coordinated volunteers in the parking area, signage, delivery of bottled water to those standing in line on warmer days and other issues which arose during the 12 days.

NVC students volunteered both in the parking area and in the polling place. Bexar County Elections officials praised the students who volunteered with them and noted that the students made their work much easier. Mike Gonzalez was the presiding judge at the NVC site.

Additional appreciation is extended to John Thomas, a PTK volunteer, who contributed numerous hours guiding early voters to parking spaces; TLF and Steven Kolnes; and those who delivered bottled water, posted signs, provided rides to older voters and those with disabilities and helped visitors find their way to the polling place.

San Antonio College and Palo Alto College also served as Early Voting sites. A total of 5,682 voted at SAC while 3,691 cast their votes at PAC.
